Lakes
The most common synthetic membranes used for lining lakes, ponds and lagoons are polyethylenes of high (HDPE) or low density (LDPE), also Polypropylene. LDPE or Polypropylene are preferable if the design of your lake liner is an irregular shape and precise detailing is required. Where rapid installation of lake liners is required, it is possible to prefabricate in a reinforced Keytec 642 liner.
Application
Both LDPE and Polypropylene have the distinct advantages
over HDPE because of their flexibility. Whereas HDPE is a more rigid
membrane with much less flexibility, it has a slightly better puncture
resistance and slightly improved chemical resistance above LDPE.
It is recommended that the soil conditions should be taken into consideration
when selecting a membrane, and that a geotextile is used to protect against
sharp and angular stones underneath and on top of the lake liner membrane, when
back filling. We will be pleased to offer our advice on the grade to
use with each membrane application.
Advice is also available on waterfall detail, pipe entries and fixing structures. For design assistance and information advice concerning the lining with geomembranes and geotextiles of any water feature contact us.
